Your Labour Team: Nigel Cooke and Norma Stephenson

There has never been a more important local election as our Council faces huge cuts in its budgets and our area needs strong people to stick up for our community.

And with Nigel Cooke and Norma Stephenson picking up the baton from the two retiring councillors, we have a Labour team that will continue to fight your corner as everything from police numbers to leisure services suffer under the Tory led Government.

They'll work to ensure that critical local services like street cleaning, refuse collection, job creation, bus services and environmental improvements are maintained.

Our area has seen tremendous change in recent years driven by Labour councillors and as each day goes by we have more and more to be proud of. The town centre too has seen some changes in recent years as it has suffered following the world banking crises which caused the recession. But there are positive things happening too with the planned Globe redevelopment and the new High Street Enterprise Shopping Arcade bringing jobs to the area.

Much more still needs to be done though both in the town and Hardwick & Salters Lane and Nigel and Norma will be your voice through these tough times and make things happen. And they'll keep in touch through your regular Doorstep and surgeries

A new team to work for Hardwick & Salters Lane

Nigel Cooke

Nigel Cooke is married with one daughter. He works in the NHS as a community support worker covering an area that includes Hardwick. Nigel has also worked at North Tees Hospital.

Nigel says "Whilst I'm pleased to see the new housing developments, other areas have sadly declined. If elected I will do all I can to ensure that the residents get the representation they deserve."

Norma Stephenson

Norma Stephenson has lived and worked in Hardwick for most of her life. Her mother, daughter and four grandchildren also live in Hardwick. Norma works for a local NHS Trust and has a proud record as a longstanding trade union activist. Norma says "As a resident of Hardwick for most of my life, I've seen huge changes in the area. If elected, I promise to fight to ensure that Hardwick & Salters Lane gets the attention it deserves."
